If I wanna claim that the third season of my podcast is on the topic of empowerment, I simply can’t let you go without addressing one major part of it: your physical health.
Why?
Because no matter how important it is to manage your thoughts (and I talk about ALL THE TIME), you simply can’t intellectualise yourself into health.
“Health” is super broad, I know.
But this is where the good news is: there are SO many areas you can choose to explore and learn about.
In my episode, I explain why, according to science, it’s all important and what those broad categories of exploration can be.
So please please please:
Don’t live in an outdated paradigm of mind-body separation.
Because mind and body are not only what different ancient disciplines but modern science, too, is telling us to be inseparable.
(It only took me decades to fully admit that, oh my.)
Please listen to it and share it with anyone who might need a bit of a motivation to take better care of themselves ❤️
Justina
As promised, here are some amazing podcast and book recommendations a.k.a my “But where do I start?”:
- Feel Better, Live More: a podcast by an incredibly lovely medical doctor, Rangan Chatterjee. Together with his guests (who will leave you Googling their work, too:), he explores a range of topics from gut health to the science of mindfulness to how motivation works to…so much!
- Huberman Lab: a real deep dive into how our bodies work. Andrew Huberman is a neuroscientist at Stanford University and is sharing his knowledge – and the knowledge of his quests! – so incredibly generously.
- When The Body Says No: The Cost of Hidden Stress by Dr. Gabor Maté: a book making the connections between trauma, personality (trauma response) traits, stress, and different types of diseases. It’s such a must if you’d like to understand how we can unwillingly harm ourselves – and where healing lies.
- Young Forever: The Secrets to Living Your Longest, Healthiest Life by Dr. Mark Hyman: an excellent explanation of how different systems of our bodies work and what damages them. It’s nicely dense and gives us plenty of protocols to make decisions that are simply better for us.

How Do We Choose to Operate in Times of Fascism?
Fascism has never been a thing of the past; now, to disregard it means to disengage from reality. As international law has crumbled, Israel is still destroying Gaza, and masked agents are snatching people of the streets in the U.S., I invite you to ask yourself how you choose to show up in this reality.

In addition to the small lies, there are definitely the big ones. This short blog posts is about one of them — or, rather, about a type of inquiry you might want to make time for this end of year.

“Let everything burn, except your desire to fight” – my year started with this writing that I saw in a beautiful graffiti project. It turns out, no matter how lovely this metaphor, the process itself can be quite heavy. And if your end of year doesn’t feel necessarily light, my piece is definitely for you.

I start a new season of Investigative Selfism by sharing a metaphor with you that appeared in a form of something very domestic. I dedicate this essay to everyone whose hearts might need some compassion this end of year.

Don’t abandon your precious self. That’s mostly it! But examples, silly jokes, and more encouragement is in my video/podcast episode, that inevitably has a political dimension.

There are those with platforms who aren’t ashamed or embarrassed to speak out, even when their ideas don’t seem to agree with logic (but with arrogance and ignorance – yes). Let’s use it as a frustrating reminder not to hold our voices back.
