“Surely, ANY motivation to change is good, right?”
Oooh. Not exactly.
Can an we base our desire to change and grow on something destructive?Unfortunately, I think that’s possible.
For us not to do that – and to make sure we’re basing our learning goals, intentions, and other objectively beautiful aspirations on something healthy – we have to talk about shame.
In my video and podcast episode, I:
- explain the difference between shame and guilt,
- remind us why shame is not our friend,
- give suggestions how we can approach shame, and
- say what’s a healthier base for us to base our growth and learnings on.
In short, shame is not a good house for us to live in. There are much better environments we can choose for ourselves.
For suggestions what we can do when we are in shame, please see this article.
