IT TOOK ME YEARS TO UNDERSTAND:
Collective liberation has many perspectives.
Only doing the inner work – separately, in our atomic households – won’t be enough.
We need community. We need connection. We need to take various collective actions to fight oppression where we see it.
But there’s that inner work, too. Profound. Slow. Rarely easy. Never comfortable.
But always always always worth it.
As a political commentator who talks about different forms and systems of external oppression, I’m also interested in my own personal transformation. In this platform, I share with you tools, frameworks, authors, and anything of value I have found to lead a life of authenticity.
Imperfectly, yes – but to do it any way.

My Apology to Belgium
Not so long ago (what an irrelevant piece of information in a blog!), I had a small Ramallah reunion, as I’d like to call it, in Brussels. Was it as eye-opening as my time in Ramallah? Can’t say so. And yet, it was eye-opening in this one particular respect that I would like to briefly…

Jordan! Petra: Camels, Accents, and How Keane and Shaggy Come into Picture
What do you do in Jordan if you have a couple of days here? You go to Petra. If someone tries to argue – I’m sorry, my counterargument is only this: it would be freakin’ idiotic not to go to Petra. Although the entrance fee quickly inspires backpackers to come up with some personifications (“my…

Jordan! Level of Touristy-ness: HIGH
After the almost-deadly ride to the border, I have crossed it successfully, tried to hitchhike and – maybe for that reason – got an incredible deal from a taxi driver who even shared some of the amazing Turkish/Arabic/[not to sound ignorant] Oriental coffee with me on the way. I’ve reached Amman, met up with some…

Palestine Series No. 3. Bethlehem to Jericho: a Crazy Desert Ride
Though I’ve been to some places already, I don’t really have many stories that I myself would call adventures. The inquiry “tell me about your adventures” would always leave me confused. The times I was enjoying buckets of local whiskey in Southeast Asia? Or the time I was freezing on trains in India? They do…

Palestine Series No 2. Bethlehem: The Wall
I was thinking for a while whether I should blog about this. You know, to jump from pseudo-travel stories to something that could be called political. In my previous post, while talking about my trip in general I said there were many things I wanted to write about and that I was still trying to…

Palestine Series No 1. Ramallah: “…not the destination, but the journey itself…”
Before I dive into this avalanche of posts I’ve been meaning to write about my trip to the Middle East, let me give you a brief intro. Officially, I was here for my MA research. Unofficially, I was here for any other reason, including “why not?” and some desire to once again escape Europe. My…
