IT TOOK ME YEARS TO UNDERSTAND:

Collective liberation has many perspectives.

Only doing the inner work – separately, in our atomic households – won’t be enough.

We need community. We need connection. We need to take various collective actions to fight oppression where we see it.

But there’s that inner work, too. Profound. Slow. Rarely easy. Never comfortable.

But always always always worth it.

As a political commentator who talks about different forms and systems of external oppression, I’m also interested in my own personal transformation. In this platform, I share with you tools, frameworks, authors, and anything of value I have found to lead a life of authenticity.

Imperfectly, yes – but to do it any way.

  • Palestine Series No 2. Bethlehem: The Wall

I was thinking for a while whether I should blog about this. You know, to jump from pseudo-travel stories to something that could be called political. In my previous post, while talking about my trip in general I said there were many things I wanted to write about and that I was still trying to…

Before I dive into this avalanche of posts I’ve been meaning to write about my trip to the Middle East, let me give you a brief intro. Officially, I was here for my MA research. Unofficially, I was here for any other reason, including “why not?” and some desire to once again escape Europe. My…

  • The Ultimate Test (not really)

A winter at home – how exciting! It’s been, after all, whole three years since I was home during Christmas time,  so (I thought naïvely then), I’ve missed the snow (didn’t see too much of it in Thailand…), I’ve missed the cold, my coat, my winter boots, oh man, I’ve missed the winter! Wrong (a…

  • No Rest for the Wicked: Getting Some Serious Points of Coolness Here

In contrary to helpful Buddhist teachings, I have been secretly denying the reality in which I have chosen to come back to since almost three months ago: I am in school again. However, my previous blog entry wasn’t about how I’m doing my readings, taking TV show episode breaks, and having “I’m caring less and…

  • La Poderosa…Let’s Say

I was originally planning on having one entry about my first weeks in Budapest. You know, to tell you more about how I discovered Szimpla, realised that it’s not a good idea to try to look at the Parliament building from the Pest side of Budapest, checked out A38 and saw that it is a…

  • Closing the Gap

That’s it. It’s September. I’m in Budapest, there are several articles printed out – in the greenest format possible, no worries – on my desk awaiting to be read, coffee to be drunk just to get me in the mood of studying, and Facebook opened just to sabotage that futile effort to do academic work.…
