IT TOOK ME YEARS TO UNDERSTAND:

Collective liberation has many perspectives.

Only doing the inner work – separately, in our atomic households – won’t be enough.

We need community. We need connection. We need to take various collective actions to fight oppression where we see it.

But there’s that inner work, too. Profound. Slow. Rarely easy. Never comfortable.

But always always always worth it.

As a political commentator who talks about different forms and systems of external oppression, I’m also interested in my own personal transformation. In this platform, I share with you tools, frameworks, authors, and anything of value I have found to lead a life of authenticity.

Imperfectly, yes – but to do it any way.

Before I continue with my 10th post, I think it’s high time I explained the very title of my website. Or, in case you were racking your brain for those months unable to find enough courage to ask me, I will reveal that secret to you. This year – having a lot of free time,…

  • Laos Series No. 5: Almighty Cardio

“Let’s all meet up tomorrow and bike to a waterfall that’s pretty close to here, what do you think?” asked Luc, a fellow traveller who I met just a day ago here, in Luang Prabang, and with whom we had a great time celebrating his birthday that evening. Nothing less but a great idea it was,…

  • Laos Series No. 4: A Sleepy Party Bus

Finally, after exhausting days of tubing, eating baguettes, and trying to fall asleep when nearby clubs are still blasting music, my hostelmates and I were on a bus to Luang Prabang. Vang Vieng is a famous party place while Luang Prabang is much calmer (or so we thought at that time) and all we were…

  • Laos Series No. 3: My Literal “Go with the Flow” time

As a person who enjoys partying but doesn’t think it is the most important element in life, I will throw in a mini disclaimer here: I chose to visit Vang Vieng because of its breathtaking scenery first and discovered the whole tubing thing later. Why am I writing this? To assure you that I would…
